Superscript and Subscript

The superscript element ( ... ) and subscript element ( ... ) are used to raise or lower text relative to normal text.

The superscript element denotes characters that should appear as ‘superscript’, such as date suffixes or mathematical powers.

Footnotes or chemical and mathematical formulas, especially regarding fractions such as 1/3 commonly use the subscript element.
